We don’t just follow developments in law, compliance, governance, AI, or sustainability—we help shape them. MIK is an observer of the European Open Science Cloud Association (EOSC-A) and a participant in the EU Horizon Results Booster Programme, enhancing our impact and visibility in the European research and innovation ecosystem. Our team also plays a leading role in the NERQ Network for Education and Research Quality, where we coordinate the Special Interest Group on Legal & Ethical Infrastructures for Responsible Research (LEIRR).

What does this mean for our clients?

It means we bring the most current and credible insights from the heart of policy, academia, and innovation into our daily work. It means we’re plugged into networks that influence how responsible research and innovation evolve. And it means our solutions are informed by hands-on experience with what’s ext—before it becomes mainstream. Put simply: MIK’s research activities make us smarter—and make our clients stronger.

Horizon Europe UNITES

Horizon Europe UNITES: Science Comes to Town – Bridging Science and Society Across Europe

Horizon Europe UNITES: Science Comes to Town – Bridging Science and Society Across Europe The cities of Kiel (Germany), Brest (France), and Split (Croatia) have jointly secured a prestigious €6 million EU grant for the project UNITES under the Science Comes to Town initiative. Coordinated through the SEA-EU Alliance, this year-long endeavor in 2026 will transform the three port cities into vibrant hubs of scientific dialogue, citizen engagement, and innovation.

Through an ambitious 365-day programme of interactive and educational events involving over 70 institutions, UNITES aims to connect research with real-world societal challenges—advancing the values of openness, inclusion, and civic participation in science.

Miller International Knowledge (MIK) serves as the project’s Ethics Advisor, ensuring that all activities are guided by the highest standards of social responsibility, inclusiveness, and ethical integrity. MIK supports the project in aligning with the principles of the European Research Area and the Pact for Research and Innovation in Europe, with a focus on fostering trust, transparency, and democratic engagement between science and society.

UNITES not only reflects the collaborative power of cross-border partnerships but also sets a new benchmark for integrating science into everyday urban life—making it accessible, relevant, and inspiring for all.

Horizon Europe RE-WIRING

Horizon Europe RE-WIRING

Re-Wiring is a Horizon Europe–funded research project (2023–2026) dedicated to advancing gender equality by rethinking and restructuring the systems that shape women’s and girls’ lives. Rather than focusing solely on empowering individuals, Re-Wiring aims to transform the institutions—laws, policies, cultures, and norms—that perpetuate gendered power hierarchies.

Through a unique Transformative Equality Approach, the project engages legal, symbolic, and lived experience dimensions across six countries in Europe and beyond, including Spain. It unites multidisciplinary research, stakeholder engagement, and policy innovation to develop practical tools and roadmaps for real change.

MIK contributes its expertise in legal analysis, gender justice, and ethical governance to support the co-creation of socially robust, inclusive, and sustainable solutions. Re-Wiring directly supports the realization of UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 and aligns with MIK’s mission to build a fairer, more equitable future through knowledge, empowerment, and reform.

Horizon 2020 IntelComp

Horizon 2020 IntelComp: Harnessing AI for Smarter Policy in Research and Innovation

IntelComp (Intelligent Computation for Decision-Making) is a Horizon 2020–funded project that developed an advanced AI-powered platform to support evidence-based policymaking in the fields of research and innovation. By analyzing large-scale open data—ranging from scientific publications to patents and funding trends—the platform equips policymakers with timely, relevant, and transparent insights.

Focusing on strategic domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Health, and Climate Change, IntelComp was co-designed with public authorities, funding agencies, and innovation communities across Europe. It contributes to the European Open Science Cloud and promotes data sharing in accordance with FAIR principles.

Miller International Knowledge (MIK) played a key role in safeguarding the ethical integrity of the project by drafting the comprehensive ELSI Report (Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications). This report identified critical risks and challenges related to AI use in policymaking, addressed data protection and fundamental rights, and provided ethical guidelines to ensure responsible, human-centred innovation.

Through its ELSI contribution, MIK helped ensure that IntelComp not only delivers technological excellence but also upholds European values of transparency, trust, and accountability in digital governance.
